Turkey Assumes Command of NATO’s Amphibious and Land Special Forces
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced in a statement on its social media account that the responsibilities of the “NATO Response Force (NRF),” “Amphibious Special Forces Command,” and “Land Forces Command” have been taken over from Spain, marking the first time these duties have been assigned to the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
The statement noted that these responsibilities were handed over from Spain’s CATF/CLF Headquarters on July 4, 2025, to be executed for the first time by the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
According to the statement, Turkey will carry out this mission until June 30, 2025.
