Turkey to Host Quadruple Meeting to Discuss Regional Developments
Turkey will host a quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey on Friday to discuss regional developments, particularly in light of the US and Israeli conflict with Iran.
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Egypt will meet with their Turkish counterpart in Turkey this week to consult on regional developments. This will be the third quadrilateral meeting following the recent one held in Islamabad during the US and Israeli conflict with Iran.
The meeting will not only address the Strait of Hormuz but will also involve discussions on broader regional issues.
The foreign ministers of the four countries are expected to convene on the sidelines of the annual Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday.
Senior officials from the foreign ministries of the four countries met in Islamabad on Tuesday to follow up on the results of the consultations held during the foreign ministers’ meeting on April 9. The results of that meeting will be presented at the Friday session of the ministers in Antalya.
These quadrilateral meetings are taking place amidst the ongoing conflict between the US and Israel and Iran. Pakistan has been actively mediating between Tehran and Washington, but the negotiations hosted by Islamabad ended without a final agreement.
