Turkey: We reject any plan that forces Palestinians to leave their homeland
Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister, emphasized during a joint press conference following the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League that the immediate establishment of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza is essential, and any plan forcing Palestinians to leave their homeland is rejected.
Hakan Fidan, in his speech at the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, which was dedicated to the topic of “Two-State Solution and Sustainable Peace in the Middle East,” emphasized the necessity of establishing a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Fidan stated that during this meeting, the foreign ministers of Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and Indonesia were present, along with other representatives from various countries, including China, Russia, and Spain. He added that topics such as the humanitarian situation in Gaza, efforts to resume the ceasefire, and the impact of Israeli attacks on regional conditions were discussed.
The Turkish Foreign Minister addressed the significance of establishing a permanent ceasefire and expressed support for the ceasefire process led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. He emphasized the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to Gaza and stated, “We reject any plan that forces Palestinians to leave their homeland.”
Fidan also announced that Turkey supports the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted by the Arab League and backs efforts to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the 1967 borders. He further called on the international community to support the establishment of peace.
