Turkey Will Play an Active Role in the Reconstruction of Gaza
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a series of infrastructure and service projects, announced that Turkey’s humanitarian aid trucks have entered Gaza. He said the delivery of aid has accelerated and that this step, following the ceasefire agreement, has brought new hope to the people of Gaza. Erdoğan stressed that the rapid reconstruction of the region is essential and that Turkey is ready to take any necessary action.
Pointing to the extensive destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure by Israel, including schools, hospitals, and mosques, Erdoğan said urgent steps must be taken before winter to provide safe housing for the population. He added that Israel has rendered 85 percent of Gaza uninhabitable, contaminating water, destroying gardens and buildings. According to him, Turkey will play an active role in this reconstruction process and seeks stability and security for all people in the region.
The President went on to address his country’s foreign policy, saying that Ankara has pursued a balanced stance in the Russia-Ukraine war and has succeeded in maintaining security in the Black Sea. He emphasized that Turkey has become an influential actor on the international stage and that its fundamental policies have been widely accepted. Erdoğan said his country has consistently worked to strengthen its global standing through peace diplomacy and the expansion of friendly relations.
In another part of his speech, Erdoğan criticized the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and its leader Özgür Özel, saying the party takes positions abroad against Turkey. He added that his government will defend the rights and interests of the nation in every field and will not allow the country’s reputation to be undermined in international forums. Addressing the opposition, Erdoğan said that if they cannot contribute positively, they should at least refrain from harming the country.
