Turkey’s Ramadan Aid to Needy Families in Azerbaijan
The Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation has started distributing food packages to one thousand needy families in the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The program was organized in collaboration with the Religious Services Consultancy of the Turkish Embassy in Baku. The distribution was attended by Recep Şükrü Balkan, Deputy Director General of the Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation; Dr. Ahsan Açık, Religious Services Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Baku; along with a group of foundation volunteers and citizens.
In a statement to journalists, Recep Şükrü Balkan highlighted the foundation’s humanitarian activities, stating: “The Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation strives to reach all deprived regions of the world and extend a helping hand to those in need during Ramadan.”
He added: “This year, it is planned to distribute over 228,000 food packages in 86 different locations around the world, in cooperation with foundation staff and volunteers.”
Emphasizing that Ramadan is a month of solidarity and togetherness, Balkan remarked: “During this month, when Islamic brotherhood and divine mercy reach their peak, we act as a bridge, delivering the trusts of benefactors to those in need across the world.”
During the ceremony, Dr. Ahsan Açık, Religious Services Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Baku, also stated: “The food packages will be distributed in the cities of Baku, Ganja, and Saatli.”
Referring to the importance of the spirit of solidarity during Ramadan, Açık expressed: “Our wish is that, alongside sharing bread, prayers for goodness also create bonds among people. We hope that no brother or sister worries about having food during iftar and sahur (pre-dawn meal) times.”
