Turkey’s Rise to 10th Place Worldwide with 10,000 Patents
Turkey consolidated its position among the world’s top 10 countries by registering more than 10,000 patents last year.
The Global Intellectual Property Indicators 2025 report, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), highlights Turkey’s remarkable performance in patents, trademarks, and industrial designs. With 10,004 domestic patent registrations in 2024, the country advanced from 12th to 10th place globally.
According to the report, Turkey recorded an 18.4 percent increase in patent applications and a 38.9 percent increase in trademark registrations in 2024, both above the global average.
Turkey also achieved significant progress internationally in women’s participation in innovation. With women inventors accounting for 26.1 percent of applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the country secured the top position worldwide.
