Turkish Foreign Minister Discusses Ukraine War with Russian President
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his official visit to Moscow. The meeting, held at the Kremlin Palace, lasted approximately two hours, during which the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Ukraine war and potential ways to end the conflict.
During the talks, the parties also reviewed the outcomes of recent Russia-Ukraine negotiations that took place in Istanbul in May. Economic and energy cooperation between the two countries was also on the agenda.
Prior to his meeting with Putin, Fidan held talks with Vladimir Medinsky, Russia’s special envoy for Ukraine negotiations. Turkey has been attempting to mediate between the conflicting parties in recent months.

This visit took place amid ongoing tensions in Ukraine, with the international community seeking a solution to end the conflict. As one of the few countries maintaining relations with both sides, Turkey could play a significant role in advancing peace talks.
This marks Fidan’s second official visit to Russia since the start of the Ukraine war. Analysts suggest that these meetings demonstrate Turkey’s efforts to maintain an active role in the Ukraine crisis.
