Turkish Foreign Minister to Attend BRICS Summit as Erdoğan’s Representative
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Brazil on July 6–7 as the representative of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Fidan will participate in sessions focusing on “strengthening multilateralism, economic-financial issues, and artificial intelligence” as well as “environment, COP30, and global health” during the summit, to which non-member countries have also been invited.
Fidan had previously attended the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on June 10–11, 2024, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, within the “BRICS+” framework.
The Turkish Foreign Minister is expected to emphasize the importance of upholding multilateralism and enhancing its effectiveness in addressing global challenges, while highlighting the role of the BRICS platform in this regard.
Additionally, Fidan is set to outline Turkey’s principled, constructive, and humanitarian stance on Middle Eastern crises, particularly Gaza, and warn against the threats posed by Israel’s aggressive actions to regional peace, security, and development.
