Visit of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister to Erdoğan in Ankara
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yerlan Kosherbayev within the framework of his official visit on Tuesday at the Beştepe Presidential Complex in Ankara. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was also present at the meeting.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the parties emphasized the dynamic development of the “strategic partnership” between the two countries and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of political dialogue, trade and investment, multilateral engagement, and cultural and humanitarian domains.
In this context and on the occasion of this visit, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a series of infographics on its social media accounts demonstrating the depth and breadth of bilateral relations. The statement noted that Turkey was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence on December 16, 1991, and diplomatic relations between them were established on March 2, 1992.
According to the official statistics provided, there have been 29 presidential-level visits from Kazakhstan to Turkey and 17 from Turkey to Kazakhstan to date. The volume of bilateral trade in 2025 reached 5 billion 400 million dollars, marking an 8.9% increase compared to the previous period.
Furthermore, currently more than four thousand companies with Turkish capital operate in Kazakhstan, and Turkey is recognized as the fourth largest trading partner of Kazakhstan. Over 70 joint projects with investments from both countries, valued at approximately 5 billion dollars, have been implemented so far. Among the most significant of these are major projects such as the “Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD)” and the “New Terminal of Almaty International Airport.”
