Turkish Minister: Black Sea Coastal Railway Connects Turkey to the Caucasus and Central Asia
Abdülkadir Uraloğlu emphasized that the Samsun-Trabzon-Sarp railway project transforms the transportation infrastructure in the Black Sea region and creates a vital passage.
He added, “This railway route will enable transportation between five Black Sea coastal provinces and Georgia and will have a major share in passenger and freight transportation in the region. It will also significantly reduce road traffic congestion.”
Referring to the key section of the project, the Erzincan-Trabzon railway line, Uraloğlu stated, “This line establishes a strong north-south connection and links the Black Sea Coastal Railway to domestic and international railway networks.”
The Turkish Minister noted that this railway line will play a key role in integrating Turkey into international initiatives such as the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ and the ‘Middle Corridor.’ He concluded by saying, “With the implementation of this project, we are not only increasing the country’s logistical capacity but also creating a new corridor that directly connects the Black Sea to the Caucasus and beyond.”
