Turkish Foreign Minister: Israel’s Warmongering Is a Threat to Global Security
Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his speech at the fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum, referred to the warmongering of the Israeli regime and emphasized the need for a new international order and the role of diplomacy in resolving conflicts.
Hakan Fidan stated during the forum’s open dialogue session that Tel Aviv’s threats negatively affect not only regional security but also global security.
Fidan described diplomacy as the best solution for resolving conflicts in the Middle East, the Balkans, Ukraine, and Africa, but excluded the Israeli regime from this principle due to its policies based on expansionism, occupation, oppression, and massacre.
He added: This regime seeks to ensure its own security at the expense of the insecurity of others; therefore, it occupies lands, displaces residents, and carries out genocide in Gaza. Israel, under the pretext of ensuring security, is currently trying to expand and encroach further on the territories of Lebanon and Syria.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister emphasized: The genocide war in Gaza was a wake-up call for everyone. Today, excuses such as “security,” “self-defense,” and “fighting terrorism” are no longer acceptable to many countries around the world.
Fidan stated that Europe is gradually distancing itself from the policies of the Israeli regime, but this stance has not yet matured in the United States, and there is still a long way to go.
In another part of his speech, Fidan referred to the situation in the region and said: There is a kind of instability and ambiguity in the Strait of Hormuz. However, the United States and Iran have a genuine will to reach an agreement, and Turkey will do everything in its power to support this process.
He clarified: No one wants a return to war between Washington and Tehran, and it is hoped that during the current ceasefire period, all remaining issues between the two countries will be resolved.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister also said: Negotiations between Iran and the United States have progressed significantly, although some differences remain, and if necessary, the ceasefire should be extended to allow more time for dialogue.
Fidan, referring to developments in Lebanon, warned: Israel should not be allowed to impose new realities on Lebanon. The region is facing tension due to Israel’s expansionist plans, and these policies pose a threat to regional and even global security.
He also stated clearly that Israel is trying to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, and the international community must prevent such an action.
Regarding Syria, Turkey’s Foreign Minister emphasized: Syria has not taken sides in any conflict over the past months and does not pose a threat to any country, although some actors in the region seek to maintain instability.
At the end of his speech, Fidan declared his readiness: We are ready to host talks between Russia and Ukraine, whether at the level of leaders or experts. Turkey will continue its efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
