Turkey’s 20th Maritime Aid Shipment for Gaza Unloaded in Egypt
The 20th aid ship of the Turkish Red Crescent, carrying approximately 1400 tons of humanitarian aid including food, hygiene items, clothing, and shelter equipment for the people of Gaza, entered the Port of El-Arish in northeastern Egypt.
Having set sail from Turkey’s Mersin Port on January 23, the ship carries a cargo of food supplies, hygiene necessities, clothing, blankets, tents, and infant essentials to address the urgent needs of Gaza’s residents. All aid materials have been prepared by the Turkish Red Crescent in accordance with the needs reported from the region.
The welcoming ceremony at El-Arish Port was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Cairo, the Turkish Red Crescent’s Coordinator in Egypt, representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent, officials from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), and Egyptian authorities.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Cairo, stating that regular aid shipments to Gaza continue, said, “The Turkish Red Crescent ship reached El-Arish Port as scheduled and in full safety. Its cargo mainly consists of blankets, tents, winter clothing, and hygiene items. The aid is determined based on field assessments and the list of needs communicated by the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Turkish Red Crescent.”
Recalling that the ship’s arrival coincided with the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza, the ambassador emphasized that the Turkish Red Crescent and AFAD will continue their humanitarian aid shipments in the coming weeks.
