BAYKAR Akıncı UCAV Successfully Flies with Advanced “MURAD” Radar
This radar is an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) developed by Turkish defense company ASELSAN and designed entirely with domestic technology.
Features of the “MURAD 100-A” Radar
As an advanced multirole fire-control radar, the “MURAD 100-A” has the following capabilities:
Fast electronic beam steering
Simultaneous engagement of air-to-air and air-to-ground targets
High-resolution ground imaging
Electronic warfare capabilities
Developed using Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, this radar enables the tracking of multiple targets simultaneously.

Strategic Importance of This Achievement
Equipping the Akıncı UCAV with the “MURAD” radar significantly enhances its reconnaissance and engagement capabilities. This advancement places Turkey among the few nations capable of developing and operating advanced AESA radars.
Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Turkey’s Defense Industries, stated:
“With the successful completion of the Akıncı UCAV’s first flight with the MURAD radar, a major step has been taken in strengthening our nation’s defense capabilities. Our UCAVs now possess sharper vision and superior operational abilities in all conditions.”
Future Outlook
The “MURAD” radar is planned to be integrated into other Turkish aerial platforms in the future, including: F-16 fighter jets, HÜRJET advanced jet trainer, ANKA-3 combat drone, National KAAN, fighter jet. This initiative is part of Turkey’s broader strategy to enhance defense independence and advance indigenous military technologies.
With this achievement, Turkey has taken a major step toward self-sufficiency in defense and elevated its military capabilities to a higher level.
