Bus Overturns in Antalya: 9 Dead, 21 Injured
In a tragic accident, a passenger bus traveling from Tekirdağ to Antalya overturned this morning. The accident has so far claimed 9 lives and left 21 others injured.
According to reports, the bus failed to navigate a curve, collided with guardrails, and plunged into a ravine.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, who inspected the accident site, noted the slippery road and foggy conditions, stating, “Unfortunately, 9 of our citizens lost their lives, and 21 others were injured. It is reported that some of the injured are in serious condition.”
He added, “It appears the bus was traveling at high speed, although the exact cause of the accident will be determined following technical investigations.”
Following the incident, emergency services, firefighters, crisis management teams, AFAD personnel, gendarmerie, and police were dispatched to the area. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing. The injured have been transferred to hospitals and medical centers in the city and surrounding areas.
Preliminary assessments indicate that high speed and adverse weather conditions may have played a role in this tragedy.
