CHP Holds Rally in Antalya in Support of İmamoğlu
As part of its ongoing series of rallies in support of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the former Istanbul Mayor currently under detention, Turkey’s Republican People’s Party (CHP) held its ninth gathering yesterday in front of the Turgut Özal Sports Hall in Antalya. The rally featured chants in support of İmamoğlu and calls for early elections.
CHP leader Özgür Özel, in his speech, highlighted İmamoğlu’s 74-day detention, calling him “a key figure for Turkey’s future.” Özel stated, “We will continue our struggle for justice and democracy.”
Antalya Mayor Muhittin Böcek, referencing the values of the Turkish Republic, declared, “Our commitment to democracy and the rule of law remains unwavering.” He also conveyed a message of solidarity to İmamoğlu.
On the sidelines of the event, Özel announced progress in the signature campaign supporting İmamoğlu, stating that the number of signatures collected is nearing 20 million. He urged supporters to keep pushing to reach the campaign’s final goal.

A message from İmamoğlu, who remains in prison, was read by Nil Kamacı, head of CHP’s Antalya branch. The message emphasized the importance of national unity and striving for a better future. İmamoğlu wrote, “We will not leave any citizen alone on this path.”
The rally took place as İmamoğlu, a prominent opposition figure in Turkey, remains detained on charges that his supporters claim are politically motivated. The ruling party has so far not denied these allegations.
