Çelik: Ankara Seeking to Facilitate New Negotiations Between Iran and the US
Ömer Çelik, speaking to reporters, said, “The entire world has been following the peace negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. Unfortunately, no agreement was reached in the first round.”
He emphasized, “Our position is that the peace negotiations should continue. To achieve this, it is essential to respect and maintain the ceasefire. It is unrealistic to expect results after a single round of negotiations on such a serious issue. Turkey, for its part, will continue to contribute to the organization of the second and third rounds of these negotiations.”
Çelik added that the agenda includes a large number of extremely difficult topics, including the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear program, nuclear weapons, and human casualties.
He said, “The unfair, illegal, and brazen attack by the United States and Israel on Iran has had very serious consequences for regional and global security.”
The ruling Justice and Development Party MP Çelik stressed that the situation “has reached a point that could even lead to a rift within NATO and the entire Western alliance. While the situation is unfolding like this, we are witnessing Israel continuing to undermine peace without hindrance. This regime is trying to take life away from Lebanon, to occupy it. This regime is trying to abandon Gaza and the West Bank.”
