Ozgur Ozel: Sending Turkish soldiers to Yemen is the plan of Trump
Ozgur Ozel, leader of the New Party of Turkey (YENI Parti), spoke today at the parliamentary group meeting of the party in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The meeting began at 11:30, and his remarks on maritime developments, attacks on ships, and sending troops to Yemen drew attention.
In part of his speech, referring to recent maritime incidents, Ozel said: “We also commemorated this incident in Mersin and were saddened. Our passenger ship sank in Girne on August 30, and we lost 27 citizens. The body of one of them has still not been found. Only three days later, the ship Tugberk Imamoglu sank in Silivri, and we lost another citizen. Nine of our citizens have still not been found. The families submitted an information note and their rightful demands in five points on this matter. We share your grief. We stand by you until the end.”
He also said about attacks on ships: “The Russia Ukraine war threatens sea travel. So far, about 220 commercial ships have been targeted. At least 9 Turkish flagged ships and at least 45 commercial ships linked to Turkey have been attacked, and some of them have sunk. Our ships are being targeted, but no voice is heard from the government. They have no policy in this area. They cannot ensure the security of our ships. They do not eliminate the life danger to our sailors and do not explain it to the public.”
The leader of the New Party stated regarding sending troops to Yemen: “The government is seeking in foreign policy to send Turkish soldiers to Yemen. Without beating around the bush, it must be said clearly: sending Turkish soldiers to Yemen is not in the interest of Turkey. Was such an issue even on the agenda until yesterday? Sending Turkish soldiers to Yemen is the plan of Trump. This serves the interests of Israel and the US. Turkey should not become a party to this war.”
