Turkish Parliament Speaker Calls for Suspension of Zionist Regime’s UN Membership
Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, on Wednesday during the opening ceremony of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, called for the suspension of the Zionist regime’s membership in the United Nations and compared this action to the suspension of South Africa’s membership during the apartheid era.
The assembly, held under the slogan “Planting Hope, Establishing Peace, and Ensuring Justice for Future Generations,” includes more than 80 different programs and will continue until Sunday.
Kurtulmuş emphasized that the global system is in a state of complete collapse and that the international community needs extraordinary measures to save this system. He recalled that in the past, the international system was able to counter certain negative trends, such as the suspension of South Africa’s membership in 1974 due to the implementation of apartheid policies.
The Turkish Parliament Speaker accused the Zionist regime of implementing similar policies against Palestinians and added: “Today, Israel is applying the same methods of racial discrimination, and in addition, it is committing genocide and even issuing death sentences against Palestinians.”
Kurtulmuş stated: “Applying one law for Palestinians and another for Israelis is a clear example of apartheid.” He concluded by noting that just as South Africa’s membership was suspended in the past due to apartheid, today the membership of the Zionist regime in the United Nations must also be suspended and its discriminatory policies must come to an end.
