Condemnation: Various Turkish Parties Condemn the Israeli-American Invasion of Iran
Recent polls in Turkey regarding the US and Israeli attack on Iran indicate that various Turkish political parties are united in their opposition to and condemnation of the Israeli-American invasion of Iran.
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) believes that Israel is responsible for igniting the war aimed at achieving expansionist goals in the region. The party emphasized that the US and Israeli attack on a sovereign country is in violation of international law.
The ruling party’s ally, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), also called for an end to the war against Iran and stated that this war could be dangerous to Turkey’s national security. The party leader, Devlet Bahçeli, while opposing military and political intervention in Iran, said: “If a regime change is necessary in the region, it should start with Israel.”
He called for respect for the sovereignty of countries and the will of the people, and praised the diplomatic efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to stop the war against Iran, saying that the US and Israeli attacks on Iran are unjustifiable and illegal.
He also emphasized that Syria and Lebanon should cooperate to confront Israeli overreach.
The Felicity Party has also clearly expressed its support for Iran. The leader of the Felicity Party stated: “We are on the same front as Iran and we want Turkey to stand alongside Tehran and against Washington, because the Zionists’ next target after Iran will be Turkey.”
The New Welfare Party has adopted a similar stance to the Felicity Party and is calling for the closure of the İncirlik and Kürecik bases.
