Defense Ministers of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia Meet in Ankara
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of Turkey, hosted Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Defense of Georgia, in Ankara.
According to a statement published on the “NSosyal” platform, prior to the trilateral meeting Güler held separate bilateral talks with his Azerbaijani and Georgian counterparts. Following these meetings, the joint session of the three countries began.
During the meeting, issues such as strengthening military and security cooperation, coordination in the training of armed forces, conducting joint exercises, sharing technical and military medical expertise, and addressing common regional threats were discussed.
These talks were held as part of the trilateral cooperation process that has developed among the three countries in recent years. Similar meetings had previously taken place in Tbilisi, Batumi and Baku, resulting in the signing of memoranda of understanding on defense and security cooperation. In those meetings, the defense ministers also emphasized the importance of expanding joint exercises and enhancing coordination against emerging threats.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense stated that at the conclusion of the Ankara meeting, a joint declaration would be issued, reaffirming the commitment to continued trilateral cooperation and the deepening of defense relations among the three countries.
