Erdoğan: Silence in the face of Israel’s massacre is complicity in the crime
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a speech at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, emphasized regarding Israel’s attacks on Gaza: Silence in the face of Israel’s massacre means complicity in this crime.
He emphasized: Israel, for more than a year and a half, has been openly committing genocide against the Palestinian people by disregarding the most basic human rights and violating international laws.
He also said: Even in times of war, does a legitimate state act in this manner? Is this not called state terrorism? This is why Israel is a terrorist state. Five hundred years ago, we provided refuge in these lands to the Jewish people who had been expelled from their homelands. Turkey today is the same Turkey it was back then.
Emphasizing the right to protest against oppression, he stated: Protest against this oppression and the strongest possible reaction is not only our fraternal duty but also our human duty. As long as Israel’s state terrorism in Gaza continues, ceasefire efforts are destroyed, and bombs are dropped on the innocent, achieving permanent peace will be very difficult.
Erdoğan also stated: No one can tarnish the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people against occupation by labeling it terrorism. He called on all members of the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to stop the bloodshed and stand with the Palestinian people.
The Turkish President stated: We seek a region where understanding prevails instead of conflict; a region where prosperity flows instead of blood, tears, pain, and tension. We strive to establish good relations with our neighbors and create bridges of dialogue between conflicting parties to build a belt of peace and security around our country.
Erdoğan continued his remarks, stating: Once again, it has become clear that Europe’s security cannot be imagined without Turkey. Turkey is ready to take on the responsibility for Europe’s security in the future. Turkey must quickly achieve its full membership seat in the European Union and called on the EU to take tangible steps in this regard.
