Erdoğan speaks of Syrian peace and support for Gaza in New Year’s message
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a video message marking the beginning of 2026, announced that the country’s Central Bank reserves are strengthening and that Turkey is rapidly advancing in production, investment, employment, and exports.
Erdoğan, noting the ongoing decline in inflation, said that this year’s economic achievements would be completed and consolidated through reforms.
In another part of his remarks, referring to developments in Syria, Erdoğan stated:
“Last year, 600,000 Syrian migrants returned to their country, and we will continue to support the new Syrian government in establishing peace and security, regardless of ethnic or sectarian differences.”
The President also emphasized regarding Gaza:
“As long as those responsible for the martyrdom of 71,000 people — mostly women and children — do not face justice, we will not remain silent, nor will we allow this genocide to be forgotten.”
Erdoğan further stressed the process of a “terror-free Turkey,” saying that this path must not fall victim to daily political calculations.
On the Russia-Ukraine war, he noted:
“We will continue our diplomatic initiatives to bring this war to an end as soon as possible and to achieve a just and lasting peace.”
Finally, Erdoğan, referring to developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus, said: “We will never turn a blind eye to criminal acts, piracy, or maritime banditry in our Blue Homeland.”
