Erdoğan’s Meetings on the Sidelines of the International Forum for Peace and Trust
President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with regional and international leaders on the sidelines of the “International Forum for Peace and Trust” in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. The forum, organized to mark the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, provided a platform for discussions on political, security, and economic issues.
In his meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Erdoğan and Sharif emphasized expanding economic and trade cooperation, facilitating infrastructure projects, and enhancing coordination on regional security matters. The talks reflected both countries’ willingness to deepen relations in the fields of energy and transportation.
During his meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, discussions focused on continuing political and economic dialogue, regional security issues, and cooperation in energy and transit. Both sides underlined the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels and pursuing joint projects, while agreeing on the necessity of coordination in regional matters.

In talks with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the agenda centered on strengthening bilateral relations, facilitating trade exchanges, and coordinating on regional and international issues. Both leaders stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and expanding economic and cultural cooperation.
Erdoğan’s meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan’s role as host of the forum and explored opportunities for cooperation in energy and transportation. The two leaders exchanged views on regional joint projects and strengthening technical and economic collaboration.
Before the official group photo session of the forum, Erdoğan also attended several multilateral meetings where topics related to peace, mutual trust, and ways to enhance regional cooperation were discussed. These engagements demonstrated that the Turkish President’s presence in Ashgabat went beyond participation in a symbolic event, turning into an opportunity to advance strategic dialogue and strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations.
A high-level delegation from Türkiye accompanied President Erdoğan during the visit. The delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council Çağrı Erhan, and Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party Halit Yarbakan, who were responsible for coordinating the meetings and following up on the agreements reached.
