Devlet Bahçeli’s Meeting with the DEM Party Delegation
Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) of Turkey, yesterday hosted Pervin Buldan, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) and Member of Parliament for Van from the Peoples’ Democratic Party of Turkey (DEM), along with her accompanying delegation, in his office at the parliament. Celal Adan, Deputy Speaker of the GNAT, was also present at the meeting.
The DEM Party delegation included Mithat Sancar, Member of Parliament for Şanlıurfa, and Faik Özgür Erol, the party’s lawyer. The meeting was held behind closed doors without journalists and lasted about 30 minutes.
After the meeting, Pervin Buldan described the encounter as “constructive” in her remarks to reporters, stating: “We informed Mr. Bahçeli and his team about our meeting in İmralı on December 2 and the subsequent discussions, and we explained the stages this process has reached. We also exchanged views on the next steps.”
Buldan emphasized the importance of the meeting and added: “We have now entered the second stage of this process, a stage that requires a legal framework and regulation. This regulation must, of course, be a peace law. We conveyed our views and expectations on this matter to Mr. Bahçeli and requested his support. Mr. Bahçeli has provided very valuable contributions since the beginning of this process, and we sincerely believe that he will continue to do so. At this stage, we once again thank him and his team.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Devlet Bahçeli stated: “Ms. Pervin expressed every issue clearly. I support each and every sentence she said.”
