Fidan’s Warning on the Expansion of War in the Region
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking at a session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on developments in Gaza, warned that the continuation of Israel’s attacks could set the entire region ablaze.
Referring to Israel’s actions over the past two years, he said: “The Zionist regime has committed genocide in Gaza and has openly disregarded fundamental human values before the eyes of the world.”
Fidan stressed: “We are firmly opposed to any plan that would pave the way for the forced displacement of the people of Gaza; regardless of who proposes such a plan, it is invalid for us. If Israel is allowed to continue its brutal attacks in Gaza and other parts of Palestine, this crisis will not remain limited to the Palestinians and will engulf the entire region.”
He added: “The ongoing barbarity in Gaza will be recorded as one of the darkest chapters in human history. The resistance of the Palestinian people against Israel will alter the course of history, become a symbol for the oppressed, and shake the foundations of a corrupt order.”
The Turkish Foreign Minister also stated: “We will by no means allow the ancient and valuable communities of Syria to be exploited for distorted objectives that violate territorial integrity. Turkey’s trade relations with Israel have been completely severed; ships belonging to Turkish companies are not permitted to dock at Israeli ports, and Israeli aircraft are barred from passing through Turkish airspace.”
Fidan concluded: “Israel’s arbitrary actions — from its attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria to its aggression against Iran — are the clearest indication of the mindset of a terrorist state that challenges the international order.”
