Iran and Turkey Emphasize Islamic Unity and Expansion of Economic Cooperation
The President of Iran and the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in separate meetings with the Turkish Foreign Minister, stressed the necessity of strengthening Islamic cooperation and expanding bilateral relations.
🔹 President’s Meeting with Hakan Fidan
Masoud Pezeshkian, on Sunday evening, December 1, 2025, in his meeting with Hakan Fidan, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, referred to the historical and cultural background of relations between the two countries and said: Islamic countries must facilitate conditions for one another and avoid complicating issues. He added that if Islamic countries move forward with unity and convergence, no power will be able to create problems for Muslim nations.
Pezeshkian, pointing to Europe’s experience in establishing joint structures, emphasized that the Islamic world, by setting aside differences, can pursue the path of cohesive cooperation and collective development. He said: “We are brothers and must expand our relations, and we believe that from borders through which trade, science, and culture pass, terrorism and weapons will never cross.” Hakan Fidan, in this meeting, conveyed the message of the President of Turkey regarding the expansion of trade and economic cooperation and stated that internal disputes have wasted valuable time in the Islamic world, and today joint cooperation has become an unavoidable necessity.

🔹 Speaker’s Meeting with Hakan Fidan
On the same evening, Hakan Fidan met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly. Ghalibaf, referring to the special conditions of the region, said that Iran and Turkey must strengthen their political and economic relations with greater determination. He added that the volume of economic exchanges between the two countries is about 20 billion dollars, and the common goal is to reach 30 billion dollars.
Ghalibaf stressed that the Zionist regime and the United States oppose the unity and progress of Islamic countries and seek to keep the region’s countries entangled in various crises.
Hakan Fidan, in this meeting, said that the main security threat in the region is Israel’s expansionist actions, and their attacks against Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and even Qatar have made this clear. He added that Iran and Turkey are friends in difficult times and that during the 12-day war they stood alongside the people and government of Iran.
These meetings were held with a focus on strengthening Iran–Turkey relations, expanding economic cooperation, and emphasizing the unity of Islamic countries.
