Foreign Ministry Spokesman: Tehran to Host the President of Turkey
The spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, will travel to Tehran, and that coordination to determine the exact date of this visit is still ongoing.
Ismail Baghai, in his weekly press conference, referring to this visit and also the issue of disarming PJAK, said: “Coordination for the President of Turkey’s visit to Iran is underway, and discussions on the exact timing are continuing. Our principled stance on terrorism is clear; terrorism is condemned everywhere and creates insecurity. The Foreign Minister has also emphasized that a region free of terrorism must be established. Accordingly, regional cooperation to combat terrorism must be strengthened, and the two ministers agree on increasing cooperation among the countries of the region.”

In response to a question about the presence of American fighter jets in Iraq, regional developments, and statements by Benjamin Netanyahu, he added: “No warning has been given to us. Our talks with Turkey and Saudi Arabia were more focused on international developments. In every discussion, the crimes of the Zionist regime and its warmongering are raised. The nature of the Zionist regime is crisis-making; for eight decades it has continuously injected crises into its surroundings. There is regional consensus on the threats posed by this regime, and we are prepared under all circumstances and will not allow the Zionist regime’s illusions to be realized.”

Baghai explained regarding the visit of a Saudi Foreign Ministry official to Tehran: “This visit was in response to Mr. Sheibani’s trip a few months ago. Issues related to Syria and regional developments are important to us, and this visit was more focused on Syrian matters. The Saudi side’s meetings were also held with the Special Representative for Syrian Affairs. We are not only in talks with Saudi Arabia but also with other parties regarding Syria. The continuation of the Zionist regime’s attacks on Syria and the occupation of part of this country are constant issues on Iran’s diplomatic agenda. It cannot be said that Saudi Arabia is a mediator between Iran and the Syrian government; rather, we are in dialogue with all relevant countries to help improve the region’s security situation and to be informed of each other’s views.”

He also commented on the visit of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran to Afghanistan: “This visit took place and was of great importance. Prior to that, positive discussions had already been held between the Foreign Ministry’s economic diplomacy sector and Afghan counterparts.”
