Condemnation of the Attack on the Sumud Fleet by 11 Countries
The office of the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a joint statement today from the foreign ministers of 11 countries, including Pakistan, Brazil, Spain, Turkey, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Colombia, Maldives, and South Africa. This statement was issued in condemnation of Israel’s criminal actions against the crew members of the Global Sumud 2 (Steadfastness) Fleet.
The statement reads: “We, the foreign ministers of 11 countries, strongly condemn Israel’s attack on the Global Sumud Fleet, which is a humanitarian, civilian, and peaceful initiative aimed at drawing the international community’s attention to the human catastrophe in Gaza.”
The statement adds: “Israel’s attacks on ships and the illegal detention of humanitarian activists in international waters constitute a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”
The foreign ministers of these countries expressed deep concern over the safety of civilian activists and called on the Israeli regime to take necessary measures to ensure their immediate release. They also called on the international community to fulfill its moral and legal obligations regarding respect for international law, the protection of civilians, and ensuring accountability for these violations.
Previously, Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, described the Zionist regime’s assault on the ships of the humanitarian Sumud 2 (Steadfastness) Fleet in international waters and the violent detention of activists supporting the Palestinian people as maritime piracy and a terrorist act, and he strongly condemned it.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Zionist regime announced that the operation to seize the ships of the Sumud Fleet, which were destined for Gaza, had concluded, and that 175 activists present on these ships had been transferred to the occupied territories. Earlier, the army of the Zionist regime had reported the seizure of 21 out of a total of 58 ships of this fleet and had warned that if the remaining ships did not change course and turn back, action against them would soon commence.
