Istanbul residents spent the night outdoors

Some citizens, who did not wish to return to their homes after the 6.2 magnitude earthquake on the shores of Silivri in Istanbul, spent the night outdoors. While some stayed in tents set up in various parks in Fatih, others preferred to sleep on mattresses laid out on the ground. Some citizens were also seen sleeping in their cars.

Following a statement from the Istanbul governorate, mosques that remained open throughout the night became preferred locations for citizens to sleep. Scenes of citizens sleeping inside the Sehzade Mosque in Fatih were captured. Residents attempted to endure the night in the mosque, seeking shelter from the cold and protection from the risk of earthquakes.
