Latest Status of Wildfires in Turkey
Çanakkale
In the Dardanos region, fires spread rapidly due to strong winds, reaching residential areas near Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) and military camps. As a precaution, 2,090 people were evacuated by sea and land. Additionally, 77 people received treatment for smoke inhalation; all are reported to be in stable condition. Firefighting efforts involve 10 aircraft, 9 helicopters, 75 ground vehicles (arazöz), 10 bulldozers, and 760+ personnel.
Manisa
Fires in Sarıalan and Badınca were contained after 7 hours of nonstop efforts. However, operations continue in Soma and Alaşehir with 116 teams, 10 heavy machinery units, and 385 personnel. Police detained one suspect for alleged arson, and investigations are ongoing. Locals are supporting crews with water tankers.
Kahramanmaraş
In Göksun, 126 personnel with support from 5 helicopters, 8 ground vehicles (arazöz), and multiple fire trucks are battling the blaze. The municipality has deployed heavy machinery to assist.
Hatay
The fire near the Syrian border in Yayladağı was fully contained after intensive efforts involving 69 firefighting vehicles and 200 personnel. Fortunately, it didn’t spread to residential areas, and no casualties occurred.
Bolu
In Mudurnu, fire spread from a farm to surrounding forests and was extinguished with 2 helicopters and 60+ personnel. Authorities continue cooling and monitoring operations to prevent reignition.
Edirne
Residents of Gülçavuş Sahili were preventively evacuated, and 2 houses were damaged. Air and ground operations continue. The Governor of Edirne urged citizens to avoid the area and follow official instructions.
Official Statements
Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announced that fires in Edirne, Hatay, and several other locations are fully contained. He added that blazes in Bolu, Kahramanmaraş, and Çanakkale are largely under control, but operations continue at full capacity in Çanakkale Merkez and Manisa. The minister thanked emergency crews and urged citizens to avoid all fire-risk activities while observing safety measures.
