Numan Kurtulmuş Re-elected as Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey
Numan Kurtulmuş, an Istanbul deputy from the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), was re-elected as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) after securing 329 votes in the third round of voting in the General Assembly.
In the third round of voting, which was attended by 529 deputies, Numan Kurtulmuş received 329 votes, Uğur Bayraktutan, an Artvin deputy from the Republican People’s Party, received 118 votes, Osman Cengiz Candar, a Diyarbakır deputy from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party, received 18 votes, Mustafa Canbaz, an Istanbul deputy from the Good Party, received 26 votes, and Mehmet Karaman, a Samsun deputy from the New Path Party, also received 26 votes. Additionally, 1 blank vote was cast and 11 votes were declared invalid.
Thus, Kurtulmuş, having secured more than half of the total votes (the threshold being 301 votes) in the third round, once again assumed the presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
