Official Handover Ceremony for the Command of the Turkish Land Forces Held
Turkey’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, attended the official handover ceremony for the command of the Turkish Land Forces, held at the Land Forces Command Headquarters.
According to an announcement published on the official account of the Ministry of National Defense, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu—who was appointed Chief of the General Staff at the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting in 2025—handed over the command of the Land Forces to General Metin Gürak.
This change is part of the structural reforms in the Turkish Armed Forces’ command structure, carried out in line with the decisions of the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) and approved by the Presidency. The Supreme Military Council, the highest decision-making authority on military affairs, convenes annually to evaluate and appoint high-ranking commanders of the Turkish Armed Forces.
