Özel: Kılıçdaroğlu’s trial must be closely followed
The Central Executive Board of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), chaired by Özgür Özel, convened for a meeting. The session addressed the country’s political, economic, and social developments, party programs, as well as the process of holding provincial and national congresses.
One of the main topics of the meeting was the upcoming trial of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the seventh chairman of CHP, who is accused of “insulting the President.” The trial is scheduled to take place on October 17 in Ankara. Emphasizing the importance of this case, Özel instructed that the judicial process be fully monitored by the party and that a high-level delegation be present at the court.
Another part of the meeting focused on the party’s international activities. Özel is expected to attend the Socialist International meetings in Madrid and the Congress of the Party of European Socialists in Amsterdam in October. In addition, CHP’s first rally abroad will be held on October 12 in Brussels, and the possibility of another rally in Germany in December was also raised.
Party officials also evaluated the results of CHP’s parliamentary group meeting in Bolu positively, considering it a sign of the party’s internal solidarity. Meanwhile, the process of holding provincial congresses continues, and the party’s national congress is likely to be held in late November or early December.
