Special Screening of the Turkish Film “Buğday Tanesi” in Tehran with Prominent Artists in Attendance
The film “Buğday Tanesi” (Wheat Grain), based on the true life story of Serkan Bayram, a disabled lawyer and member of the Turkish Parliament, portrays a human narrative of hope, determination, and the fight against discrimination. It will be screened today as part of the international section of the “City Film Festival” in Tehran.
Directed by Doğan Umut Karaca and written by Volkan Kapkın, the film tells the inspiring story of Serkan Bayram, who, despite physical limitations, pursued a challenging yet hopeful journey that led him to become a member of parliament.
The special screening will take place at Pardis Mellat, with Serkan Bayram himself in attendance, alongside renowned Iranian artists such as Ali Oji, Reza Yazdani, and Narges Mohammadi.
“Buğday Tanesi” follows Bayram’s life from childhood—when he lost both hands in an accident on a wheat farm—through his entry into politics. It depicts his perseverance in continuing his studies in law and overcoming social and personal obstacles. The lead role is played by the well-known Turkish singer and actor Kutsi.
The film has also been screened in schools and universities across Turkey in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, with the aim of familiarizing younger generations with the personal and social experiences of people with disabilities.
