Statement of the National Security Council of Turkey on the Permanent End of Terrorism
The National Security Council of Turkey (MGK), following a meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex, issued a statement. The declaration emphasized that, in line with the goal of a “Terror-Free Turkey,” multilateral efforts aimed at the complete and permanent eradication of terrorism and the strengthening of national unity and solidarity were discussed.
According to the announcement shared on the official social media account of the Presidential Directorate of Communications, council members were briefed on the determined and successful activities carried out both domestically and abroad against threats and dangers targeting national unity, solidarity, and survival — particularly terrorist organizations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and ISIS — as well as recent international developments.
The statement read: “It was underlined that in the future our region must not witness any manifestation of terrorism or violence. Satisfaction was expressed with Syria’s progress in overcoming its challenges, attaining its rightful international standing, and contributing to regional stability. Turkey reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the peace, welfare, and security of all segments of the brotherly Syrian people.”

The statement also referred to the ceasefire in Gaza, describing it as a vital step to halt genocide in the region. It added: “The Israeli government, which violated the ceasefire, must immediately end its attacks and fulfill its commitments. Turkey stands ready, as it did in establishing the ceasefire, to assume responsibility for mechanisms that guarantee peace and stability in Gaza and to participate in efforts for the reconstruction of the region.”
Other key points highlighted in the statement included:
Sudan: Developments in the country were assessed, Turkey’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was reaffirmed, and all international actors — particularly regional countries — were called upon to take joint action to immediately stop the massacre of innocent civilians and end the conflict.
Russia and Ukraine: The latest situation in the war was evaluated, with emphasis placed on the necessity of finding a diplomatic solution to prevent escalation. Turkey declared that it will continue its efforts with international partners to achieve a fair and lasting peace.
South Caucasus: In light of recent positive developments in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, opportunities for bilateral and regional cooperation were discussed. Turkey’s determination to establish peace, stability, and development in the South Caucasus was once again reaffirmed.
