Turkey and Iran Condemn Israel’s Attack on the Samud Fleet
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran strongly condemned the attack by Israeli forces on the Global Samud Fleet in international waters.
In a statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that the attack was “a blatant violation of international law and a terrorist act” that endangered the lives of innocent civilians. The ministry emphasized that the Samud Fleet was en route to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, adding: “This illegal and inhumane attack is a clear violation of international law and human rights.” The statement further noted that Turkey had taken necessary steps to secure the release of its citizens and other detained passengers, and called on the United Nations and international organizations to take immediate action to lift the blockade of Gaza and ensure freedom of navigation.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Beqaee also condemned the attack, describing it as “a terrorist act.” Praising the efforts of activists and civil groups from various countries in support of the Palestinian people, Beqaee characterized Israel’s action as “a blatant violation of international rules.” Highlighting the ongoing killings of Gaza’s population, he stressed the legal and moral responsibility of governments to stop this process and urged the international community to take urgent steps to prosecute those responsible for the attack.
