Turkey Completes Construction of 204-Kilometer Wall on the Iranian Border
Turkey has completed the construction of a 204-kilometer-long security wall along its border with Iran. The wall, built in Van Province in the east of the country, was constructed to prevent illegal crossings, combat smuggling activities, and block the infiltration of terrorist groups.
Construction work continues on other sections of Turkey’s 295-kilometer border with Iran, including the building of watchtowers and the digging of trenches to further strengthen border security.
Special teams affiliated with the Engineering Command of the Ankara Gendarmerie General Command are clearing remaining mines along the border to ensure safer progress in the construction of the wall and trenches.
The concrete blocks used in this project are produced in local factories established by contracting companies in the border region and are installed on-site with the help of heavy machinery.
Turkish security officials have stated that strict measures to prevent the illegal entry of migrants, curb smuggling, and stop terrorist infiltration remain in place at the highest level.
In addition, security forces have reinforced reconnaissance and surveillance operations along the border by utilizing domestic and national technologies, including the extensive use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
