Turkey Sends Aid to Earthquake Victims in Afghanistan
Following the devastating 6.0-magnitude earthquake on the evening of Sunday, August 31, in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province, which caused severe loss of life and property, the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey dispatched an aircraft carrying humanitarian aid to the country.
The shipment, prepared by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkey (AFAD) and the Turkish Red Crescent, includes food supplies, medical equipment, and other essential items to assist those affected. A Turkish Air Force A400M aircraft departed from Kayseri/Erkilet Airport bound for Afghanistan.
The Ministry of National Defense expressed its deep condolences to the people of Afghanistan and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
The Turkish Red Crescent also announced that, in addition to sending food and hygiene packages, it had deployed a team of specialists from Ankara to prepare and distribute hot meals on-site to the earthquake victims.
