Turkish Foreign Ministry commemorates the Cypriot Turkish victims of the 1963 massacre
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, in a message published on the domestic platform NSosyal, commemorated the Cypriot Turks who lost their lives 62 years ago during the massacre carried out by members of the Greek terrorist organization EOKA.
The message stated: “On this day 62 years ago, members of the Greek terrorist organization known as EOKA took the first step in their brutal attacks against the Turkish Cypriot people by committing the massacre that went down in history as Bloody Christmas. However, thanks to the unwavering support of the motherland and guarantor, Turkey, and the heroic struggle of the Turkish Cypriots for independence and sovereignty—especially the brave fighters of the Turkish Resistance Organization (Türk Mukavemet Teşkilatı)—the EOKA terrorists were defeated.”
The Foreign Ministry further emphasized:
“We commemorate the memory of the Turkish Cypriots who lost their lives in the brutal attacks of the Greeks, and we express our gratitude and respect to the veterans of this cause. The martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the national cause and the Cyprus issue will never be forgotten.”
