1 Dead, 69 Injured After 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake
Ali Yerlikaya, Turkey’s Interior Minister, stated that preliminary assessments indicate no damage to residential buildings across the city. During the earthquake, a 14-year-old girl named Efrunur Günlü was hospitalized due to a panic attack but unfortunately passed away despite all efforts to save her.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 68 kilometers, about 10 kilometers off the coast of Marmaris in the Mediterranean Sea. Although the incident did not cause major structural damage, panic led many people to jump from heights or flee buildings.
The minister reported that eight people were treated as outpatients and discharged, while 46 others were examined and treated in the emergency room.
