Plans to Meet Abdullah Öcalan and Possible Meetings with Other Political Parties
A representative of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) announced that the party is planning a new visit to Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK, on İmralı Island.
Political Visits and Monitoring Öcalan’s Situation
Ayşegül Doğan, spokesperson for the DEM Party, stated in a declaration that the party intends to send a delegation, including its co-chairs and members of the central executive committee, to İmralı as soon as possible. The purpose of the visit is to hold direct talks with Öcalan and explore ways to strengthen political organizing.
Doğan also noted that Öcalan may soon meet with representatives from various political parties. According to her, these meetings could include prominent political figures such as Masoud Barzani, Nechirvan Barzani, Mazlum Abdi, and other key personalities.
Current Situation of Prisoners on İmralı Island
The DEM Party spokesperson further addressed the status of prisoners on İmralı Island, stating that there are currently seven prisoners, including Öcalan, held there. She emphasized that these individuals are collaborating with Öcalan, both theoretically and practically, in preparations for an upcoming congress and future activities.
Family Visit After 27 Years
Doğan also referenced Öcalan’s recent meeting with his nephew Ali Öcalan’s children after 27 years, confirming that the visit was verified through a statement by the “Asrın Law Office.”
The spokesperson underlined that the DEM Party aims to strengthen ties with Öcalan and monitor the political process concerning him.
