Widespread Protests in Turkish Cities Against Israel’s Attack

Following the Israeli army’s attack on the Samud Fleet, whose mission was to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, a wave of protests erupted in various cities across Turkey. These demonstrations, attended by students, citizens, and civil society groups, condemned Israel’s actions through slogans and public statements.

In the city of Samsun, university students gathered in front of the university mosque after Friday prayers. Carrying Palestinian flags and supportive banners, they marched toward the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, chanting slogans against Israel.

During the rally, a statement was read out, describing Israel’s attack on civilian ships as a “clear violation of international law and human dignity.” Speakers emphasized that this act was not merely a military assault but also a sign of Israel’s ongoing oppressive policies against the Palestinian people.

In Van, a ceremony was held with the participation of students and teachers. Students, holding Palestinian flags and reciting songs and poems, declared their solidarity with the people of Gaza. The atmosphere was filled with the words and tears of students expressing sorrow over the suffering of the Palestinian people.

In Aksaray, citizens gathered in front of the Grand Mosque after Friday prayers. Chanting slogans against Israel, they condemned the attack. Representatives of civil society groups stressed in their speeches that “the long-term blockade of Gaza and the attack on ships carrying humanitarian aid are clear examples of violations of human rights and international law.”

Participants in these protests underlined that “Israel only understands the language of force” and called for a stronger response from the international community. They condemned the silence and inaction of international institutions, declaring that supporting the Palestinian people is a defense of human dignity.
