Turkey’s Economic Relations with Turkic-Speaking Countries See a Surge
On the eve of the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which will be held on October 7 in the city of Gabala, Azerbaijan, statistics indicate a remarkable leap in Turkey’s economic relations with the members of this organization.
According to official data, Turkey’s trade volume with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan has reached 62.6 billion USD over the past five years. Of this amount, 36.6 billion USD accounts for exports and nearly 26 billion USD for imports.
During this period, Azerbaijan has been Turkey’s largest export partner. Bilateral cooperation, framed by the policy of “One Nation, Two States,” has been strengthened through key energy projects such as TANAP and BTC. Moreover, the Zangezur Corridor, as a new strategic route, is expected to further expand trade and energy capacities between the two countries.
Kazakhstan, with more than 23 billion USD in bilateral trade, also holds a pivotal position in Turkey’s economic relations. The recent railway agreement within the framework of the Middle Corridor promises to enhance the role of both countries in the global logistics network.
Turkey’s trade with Uzbekistan has reached 15.8 billion USD, while trade with Kyrgyzstan has amounted to 5.4 billion USD, reflecting the expansion of economic cooperation across Central Asia.
This upward trend not only highlights the deepening of economic and energy cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries but, through the development of strategic corridors, also lays the groundwork for strengthening regional peace, security, and prosperity — a theme that will be at the core of the upcoming OTS Summit.
