A 4.9 magnitude aftershock in Istanbul
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 4.9 magnitude earthquake shook the shores of the Marmara Sea.
The epicenter of this earthquake, which occurred at 15:12 Turkey time, was reported to be the shores of Büyükçekmece district in Istanbul.
This earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.02 kilometers underground and was felt in the surrounding provinces as well.
Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul, Yusuf Tekin, the Minister of Education, announced that schools and universities in Istanbul would be closed for two days due to the earthquake.
It was also announced that disabled individuals, pregnant women, veterans unable to work, and mothers with children under the age of 10 who are employed in government institutions will be granted administrative leave.
