Adoption of Two Palestinian Resolutions at UNESCO
According to the Palestinian News Agency, these resolutions were approved by the UNESCO Executive Board.
Ruhi Fattouh, head of the Palestinian National Council, welcomed the decision and considered it a confirmation of the rights of the Palestinian people and their historical heritage. He described the two resolutions as a “victory for historical truth and the Palestinian narrative.”
Fattouh, noting that the Israeli government is trying through “illegal actions and measures” to distort historical facts and to seize and tamper with Palestinian heritage, said: Israel seeks to impose a narrative aimed at erasing the national identity of Palestine and the historical monuments of this land.
Emphasizing that protecting Palestinian historical sites and educational and cultural institutions is a legal responsibility at the international level, he called for turning UNESCO resolutions into practical and binding measures; measures that protect Palestinian heritage, hold Israel accountable for violating laws, and end efforts to distort history and seize the national memory of the Palestinians.
