Emine Erdoğan: Defending Gaza Is Defending Humanitys Conscience
Emine Erdoğan, the wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, warned in a message that the continuation of impunity for crimes in Gaza could also threaten the fate of other regions. As Israel’s attacks on Gaza enter their third year, the death toll has exceeded 74,000, and thousands of Palestinians remain missing or disappeared.
In this message, Emine Erdoğan said: “For three years in Gaza, right before humanity’s eyes, an attempt is being made to uproot a nation and steal their future.” Referring to civilian victims, she added: “Thousands of children lost their lives before they could grow up, and thousands of mothers before they could hold their children one last time. But millions remained, enduring their pain and holding on to their homeland.”
The Turkish president’s wife stressed: “What is happening in Gaza is not only the Palestinian issue. Every crime that remains unpunished today before the eyes of the world could be the fate of another people, another region in the future.” She added: “That is why we must strengthen the resistance of our Palestinian brothers and sisters and make their voices louder. Because defending Gaza means defending the future of the survivors and the common conscience of humanity.”
At the end, recalling Palestinian martyrs and wishing recovery for the wounded, Emine Erdoğan said: “I sincerely hope for the day when Palestine can once again breathe in peace.”
According to data from the Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared, it is estimated that between 2,500 and 3,000 people have been forcibly disappeared in the Gaza Strip. This figure does not include Palestinians who disappeared under the rubble of destroyed buildings. More than 74,200 Palestinians have also lost their lives during Israel’s attacks on Gaza, and the bodies of more than 8,000 people are believed to remain under the rubble.
