Ankara: Israel’s Impunity Has Worsened Famine in Gaza
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, in a statement, declared that the famine crisis in the Gaza Strip is the direct result of Israel’s attacks and blockade, warning that the continued impunity for its war crimes and repeated violations of international law has emboldened this regime to persist in its “genocidal” policies against the Palestinian people.
The statement, referring to the latest report of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) and the remarks of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres regarding this report, said that these findings once again reveal the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed: “What has encouraged Israel to continue these reckless actions is the impunity it has enjoyed for its war crimes and violations of international law over the years.”
Ankara also called for the immediate establishment of a lasting ceasefire, the prosecution of those responsible for these crimes, and the uninterrupted opening of humanitarian aid crossings, adding: “Adherence to these principles is among the most fundamental obligations of international law and human conscience. Türkiye will continue to stand firmly alongside the just struggle of the Palestinian people.”
