Armed Attack on High School in Turkey: 16 Injured
Turkish officials reported that a former student carried out a shooting at a high school in Turkey where he previously studied, resulting in the injury of 16 people, including several students.
Şanlıurfa Governor Güherhan Fincoş said that special operations security forces were dispatched to a school in the province and students were evacuated from the area.
Television footage shows ambulances waiting outside the school in the Siiverek district and students fleeing the building in panic.
Fincoş identified the attacker as a former student of the school, aged 19. Shootings at schools in Turkey are rare occurrences.
Local media reported that most of the injured were students. The Şanlıurfa Governor stated that the attacker lost his life when cornered by police.
