Bronze Statue of Marcus Aurelius Returns to Turkey After 65 Years
The statue of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, which was smuggled out of Turkey through illegal excavations in the 1960s and exchanged hands multiple times over the years, will be brought back to Turkey from the United States in the coming days.
The statue depicts Marcus Aurelius in the guise of a philosopher and dates back to the 2nd–3rd centuries AD.
