Death Toll from Kunar Earthquake Reaches 2,205
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban government in Afghanistan has announced an increase in the death toll from the recent earthquake in Kunar Province. According to Hamdullah Fitrat, the number of fatalities has now reached 2,205, while the number of injured stands at 3,640.
He stated that during the ongoing search and rescue operations, the bodies of hundreds more victims have been recovered from under the rubble. These operations are continuing in the districts of Nurgul, Mazar Dara, Chuki, Diwe Gol Dara, Chepe Dara, and Manogi.
Fitrat added that rescue teams are working with full capacity to save survivors and transfer the injured to medical centers. Temporary shelters have been set up in various areas for those affected by the earthquake, and emergency aid and relief supplies are being distributed regularly.
